The design is gorgeous. The exhaust fan works really well and is whisper quiet in the low setting. We had the contractor vent it out through the roof ... no more recirculating fumes and grease for us! The lighting is really great too. Here's the problem: the sleeve parts that cover the frame of the exhaust pipe structure did not match and looked terrible. There were four pieces, two for the bottom and two for the top. The bottom two pieces were the light shiny SS and they fit together with a nice,tight, clean seam on two sides. The top two pieces were a darker stainless and the two seams were awful ... there is a 3/4" spline between the two sections that makes it look makeshift. My kitchen design company had their regional applicance representative come to see it. Pictures were sent to Whirlpool and they discussed the problem. Whirlpool said that was the way it was supposed to look! Fortunately my company agreed that it wasn't acceptable and a local architectural metal fabricator is making two pieces that will have the shiny SS with smooth seams, without splines. Thank goodness for a remodel company that wants me to have a lovely kitchen! Whirlpool should have remedied this for us but didn't. None of their pictures of this unit show the ugly, splined seams or the mismatched stainless steel.

I just installed this fan and lucky I am an electrician and luckier that I could re-engineer the mounting brackets to fit the fan to an eight foot ceiling- the instructions give not indication on reducing the height. Mounting the cover is not a one man job.
