ISF Calibration Services

Anybody can sell you a TV or a home audio system, but can they make it look and sound the best that it can? WE CAN. At Schaefer’s we have 2 calibrators on staff that are both ISF certified to make your TV look it’s best.

Why do I need to calibrate my new TV? Don’t they already look good right out of the box? TV’s manufacturers are “optimizing” the TV’s to look great and catch your attention in brightly lit showrooms. By doing this, colors become extra-vivid and unrealistic and the TV will actually lose picture resolution. HOWEVER… chances are the lighting conditions in your home are not the same as an electronics store showroom.

Why does room lighting matter? Your eyes are constantly making adjustments based on ambient light in the room. If you are in a dark room environment, having your TV’s brightness levels too high can be uncomfortable to watch and can result in eye fatigue and headaches. If you are in a brightly lit room- you will want a higher brightness level in your TV- but not sacrifice the contrast in your picture. We calibrate to ensure you get the most picture detail in dark areas, as well as bright areas. We will optimize your picture to match the room lighting environments- both light and dark- to make sure that you are SEEING ALL OF THE PICTURE that you paid for.

Color accuracy. The next time you are in a TV showroom (even ours) look at all the different brands of TV’s as a whole. What you will notice is that each TV’s color is different. Red may look oranger on one TV, and pinker on the next. Which color of red is correct? That is where calibration comes in… we calibrate your TV colors based on standardized colors- so ALL of the colors you see on your TV are as accurate as possible. By accurate, we mean that we optimize your TV to match the way the camera saw that image- or the way the producer intended the colors to look- not the way the TV decided to make it look.

Go Green. Another benefit of video calibration is that your TV will be using less energy than standard “out of the box” mode. In fact we can show you an example of how your calibrated TV will actually be using 40%-50% less power. With Plasma TV’s you will also benefit from them generating less heat after calibration.

Why doesn’t the manufacturer just calibrate them at the factory? Again, because EVERY room is different, it’s not possible to account for all variables. However, some manufacturers are now calibrating their TV’s for a dark room and offering them in their premium models. Many manufacturers are also adding controls to their TV’s that allow calibrators to really get in and tweak their TV’s to look the best they can. Look for TV’s with ISFccc certification to know that you are getting a TV that can look it’s best after calibration!

Basic Delivery/Hookup: $99

Includes delivery of your new TV to your home. Unboxing and setting it up in the room of your choice (installed on it’s included stand/pedestal). Hook up and configuration of your cable box and or smart features. Programming your cable box remote to work with your new TV. Personalized instruction of operation of your new system. Hauling away & disposing of your old unit, is available as a service to you, but does require an additional fee.
Also, includes phone support after your delivery/installation.

*Does NOT include cables required to complete your installation.

Flat Screen TV Hang: (starting at) $199
Includes bringing your new TV out to your home. Unboxing and hanging the TV in location of your choice. Includes basic wire fishing- we will fish all cables (not included) from equipment location directly below the TV location up to the TV. Wires will be “hidden” in the wall. Hook up and configuration of your digital cable box. Programming your cable box remote to work with your new TV. Personalized instruction of operation of your new system. Hauling away & disposing of your old unit, is available as a service to you, but does require an additional recycle fee.
An electrician will be required if power is not located behind TV location. Also, includes phone support after your delivery/installation.

Most jobs require a site survey before installation to be sure of electrical placement, backing for TV, mounting specifications, etc. If there are challenges that require more elaborate wire fishing, programming, mounting, etc., then it may be a job for our
CUSTOM INSTALLATION TEAM.

Custom Installation at Schaefer's

“Custom Installation” is a very broad term that gets used by many, but understood by few. To us, Custom Installation means just that – an audio/video system that is custom tailored to your wants & needs. You can see many different examples of options- right in our store. We have an 800 sq. ft. house built right in our showroom. Our install specialists & designers have been integrating homes and commercial applications for over 30 years. No job is too big or small for our team- and we can design systems for you to fit most any budget.

Home Networking: More and more products and a/v equipment in your home require a network connection. How many smartphones, iDevices, and/or tablets do you have in your household? TV’s, bluray players, and game systems all connect to the internet for streaming services. If you can count more than 8-10 connections throughout your home, you owe it to yourself to give us a call. The more connections you have to your home network, the more your network will get bogged down. We can design a reliable in home network for you that is stable and secure… so you can spend less time resetting routers and modems, and more time enjoying your devices!

What about wireless??? Isn’t everything wireless now? The short answer to that is – wireless networks are great for mobile applications, but not always reliable enough for distributing your ENTIRE system – 4K video, high bit rate audio, gaming, and data distribution. Run a wire while you can!

There are a number of places that you can go or people you can call to pre-wire your home, however there are very few that truly understand networked audio/video/data distribution and why we are running the wires we do. We offer professional delivery & installation of the appliances we offer.-

We know your time is valuable. We ask that when selecting our white glove delivery option, please select a date that you would be available for ANY 2.5 hour delivery window that day. The day before your delivery you will receive a call, text, and email to confirm your 2.5 hour delivery window. You will also receive a call and/or text before your delivery on the day of scheduled delivery when the crew is on their way. Be sure to discuss all product specifications with your sales associate to ensure your new product will fit in it's new home!

Basic Appliance Delivery: $119 (Lincoln and Surrounding areas) Includes delivery of your appliance(s) to your home. Hook up and set up of "basic appliances", which includes any applicable cords (dryer, range), venting (dryer), etc. necessary to complete your basic installation. Haul away of your old units is included, if you wish. Delivery teams will move your old unit(s) to your garage if you wish, however we cannot move to another room, another address or re-hookup any old appliance.

*Basic Appliances include appliance items that are not considered “built-in” products. Examples of basic appliances include Laundry products (electric), Ranges (electric), countertop microwaves, non-built-in beverage centers, and non built-in refrigerators. Unfortunately we can not hook up any plastic water lines, dryer venting, etc. We also offer phone support if you have questions after our delivery/install team(s) have left your home.

Dishwasher Re-Installation: $189 (Lincoln and Surrounding areas) We are certified to do dishwasher re-installation in your home. If you have a dishwasher installed currently, we can swap it out with the new unit of your choice. Professional installation gives you peace of mind that your dishwasher was installed properly and will be operating properly. Installation charge includes ALL necessary parts to complete your dishwasher installation.
*For In-City (Lincoln) installations, Dishwasher Re-Installation also requires a City Permit ($25) that will be purchased at the time of sale. An electrical switch/shut off at the dishwasher location is also required. Most Out of City Limits do not require a permit- some do, however there is an additional trip charge based on location.

Over the Range Microwave Installation: $189 (Lincoln and Surrounding areas) Need some more space on your kitchen countertops- then pick up an OTR microwave and we can get it installed for you. 99% of all OTR microwaves will fit a standard 30″ opening, so if you have a 30″ hood installed now- chances are the new microwave will fit, no problem.
* We do require that you have an actual electrical plug installed before we install. We will not hook up “direct connect” electrical lines. You must have an outlet that we can physically plug into. Also, if you wish to have your microwave vented to the outside- venting must be in place before installation. Otherwise, most OTR’s do a great job recirculating their venting.

Gas Appliance: $159 (Local) Many consumers prefer gas as their energy fuel of choice. We offer many appliances available in gas options. For peace of mind, we can also install them for you, as well.
* Our gas installation charge INCLUDES STANDARD PARTS NEEDED to complete the installation. A gas shut off valve is REQUIRED to be located at the appliance location. LP Conversion and hookup is additional charge.
